Building ties with Poland

Representatives of Monaco's business community traveled to Warsaw in October.

The 2 day trip was organized by the Chambre de Developpement Economique (CDE), the delegation's objectives were to build relations with clients and suppliers, and to find ways to enter the Polish market. Representatives from a number of Monegasque business sectors were present, including private and merchant banks, hotels, and real estate. Led by President of the CDE Michel Dotta, they were joined by Claude Giordan, Monaco's ambassador to Poland, and consul Wojciech Janowski. While there, the CDE and the Polish Chamber of Commerce signed an agreement to cooperate.

The DTC also joined in to promote Monaco as a tourist destination. Polish tourists represented 4108 overnight stays in Monaco during 2009, a growth of 35% compared to the previous year.

The Polish economy is one of the most dynamic in Europe with growth of around 3% expected in 2011. A year later, the country is expecting to welcome up to 1.2 m tourists when it hosts the UEFA European Football Championship in 2012 with Ukraine.
