Education for peace and sport

The International University of Monaco (IUM) is launching a Master in Sustainable Peace through Sport (MSPS) next year.

During the 4th Peace and Sport forum last week Monaco's English language business school announced it is to offer a course in sustainable peace through sport. The Masters diploma will be taught in partnership with the Costa Rica University of Peace, mandated by the UN.

The first students will start classes for the multidisciplinary course in September 2011. They will learn practical skills, diplomacy, how to design and put into practice sport programs, and how to plan fund raising initiatives to raise finance. In addition, the curriculum will include classes on creating partnerships with NGOs and international organizations.

Catherine Lespine, Managing Director of INSEEC, the educational organization that recently took over IUM, said that sport can play a crucial role in developing students' values so they can contribute to a better world.
