The Principality presides over EUROCONTROL committee in 2010.
Based in Brussels, the European Organisation for the Safety of Air Navigation (EUROCONTROL) is an intergovernmental organization that promotes secure and seamless pan-European air traffic management (ATM). It was founded in 1960 and now includes 38 member states of the European Community. Acting for both civil and military users, the organization contributes to making European air travel safer for everyone.
Monaco has been a member of EUROCONTROL since 1977 and this year it takes on the presidency of the organization's Permanent Commission. Made up of Ministers of Transport, the Commission is presided over by a different member state each year. As Government Advisor for Facilities, Urban Planning and Environment, Gilles Tonelli is taking on the role of President, with Henri Bayol, Head of Civil Aviation Services, as Vice President.
