Conseil National representatives attended the 5th Conference of Parliamentary Presidents of European Microstates at the beginning of the week.

Conseil National President Jean-Francois Robillon and Vice-President Fabrice Notari were in Luxembourg on Monday and Tuesday to meet with representatives of other European microstates. The inter-parliamentary conference was launched 4 years ago on the initiative of Monaco's Conseil National. With the objectives of promoting collaboration on common issues and raising member states' profiles internationally, this year's conference revolved around 3 themes:

• economic governance
• energy supply in the small states
• cross-border cooperation in emergency services

During the meeting, it was suggested that the microstates' government finance ministers might be persuaded to meet annually to strengthen cooperation, especially now that tax information exchange agreements have been signed.

Next year's 6th conference is to take place in Malta.
