Mediterranean Day marked on the calendar

The idea for Mediterranean Day was introduced during the Plenary Session of the Assemblee Parlementaire de la Mediterranee (APM) in 2008.

The Mediterranean is celebrated on 21st March each year with the objectives:

  • to promote the Mediterranean region as unified body annually
  • to highlight the positive features of the Mediterranean

The day is devoted to integration, unity and diversity, and to celebrating the role that the Mediterranean people played in the development of modern Western society.
