Retirement on hold

Delays to opening of Monaco's new retirement home.

After Prince Albert inaugurated A Quietudine on 4th March, Monaco's first care home with medical facilities was due to welcome its first residents in April. Unfortunately work has delayed the opening and residents must wait until the end of June to move in.

Construction of the facility started at the beginning 2008. It's located in the town centre and contains private rooms as well as a communal restaurant, projection room, lounges, and a terrace on the roof. Once fully operational, A Quietudine will create 62 jobs and cost 3 million euros per year to run. There are already 36 residents with confirmed admissions, and the average age is expected to be 90.
