This afternoon the elevators down to Fontvieille shopping centre will be out of bounds for an hour.
The lifts will be closed at around 14:45 to allow blasting to take place for construction work in the area. A pedestrian tunnel is being excavated to link the new Rainier III building site with pedestrian access to the Fontvieille shopping area, where Carrefour supermarket is located. The lifts should be operating again 10 minutes after the blasting ends at 15:30.
Excavation work is also being carried out to link the car parks of the future Lycee Technique et Hotelier and the Rainier III building. Warning sirens announce the blasts between 11:30 and 12:00.
