Today the Principality reflects on its support for international action on 4 key issues affecting women in the world:

  • maternal and infant health - creating and equipping clinics in poor rural areas
  • support for income generation by female entrepreneurs
  • literacy for women and children
  • female circumcision

Women at the heart of Monegasque cooperation

Within Monaco itself, there has been progress on rights for women in the sphere of citizenship, divorce and abortion. In public life, many female high achievers have risen to top level posts:

  • Odile Remik-Adim, French ambassador
  • Christiane Stahl, Prince Albert II's communications advisor
  • Sophie Thevenoux, head of the Department of Economy and Finance
  • Sylvie Biancheri, CEO of the Grimaldi Forum
  • Princess Caroline, who supports many Monegasque associations and events

Monaco's parliament celebrated female sports achievement and welcomed Fabienne Pasetti and Alexandra Coletti, fresh from the winter olympics, along with sports teachers and Monegasque personalities.
