Monaco hotels for sale

Several reports this week state that the Columbus Hotel in the Fontvieille district of Monaco has been offered for sale.

The hotel is part owned by F1 driver David Coulthard and his business partner Ken McCulloch, who have finally settled their widely publicized differences. For just 50 million euros you get a 181 room luxury hotel with swimming pool just a few steps from Monaco's Heliport. It's not very old either, having opened just a few years ago in 2001, yet its restaurant has quickly become a popular place for business lunches.

Elsewhere in the Principality, the Meridien Beach Plaza has also been sold by Starman Hotels for a reported 25 million euros, although the details of the private investor and the deal remain a well kept secret. The Meridien is down by the beach, on the opposite side of Monaco from the Columbus. With 403 rooms, a 24 hour restaurant and a private beach, it's also much bigger and accommodates many conferences and business meetings in its Sea Club congress centre. The sale is expected to be finalised over the next couple of months.
