New winter train timetables have been published and here at Monaco IQ we're very excited. From 14 December 2008, the trains financed by Monaco come fully into operation.
We reported commuter problems [1] on the Cote d'Azur section of the SNCF in January, and it seems that traveling is now about to get better. Most improvements affect the route between Monaco and Nice, which will benefit from more frequent trains during morning and evening rush hour. Another great improvement is that services will be more frequent at night too, running approximately every 30 minutes, even after 20.00.
The extra trains are great news, and not just for the travelers. Hopefully, more people will be encouraged to leave the car at home, and this should be good for the environment. We might also see a decrease in the number of drivers who take risks by drinking and driving after a night out. Economically, it should improve productivity, because workers who already use the train will get a more regular and reliable service. Employees will arrive on time, with less stress, and will have more flexibility.
So, a "bienvenue" to Monaco, and a "bon voyage" too!
