Public bikes are about to go on trial in Monaco.
For the next 6 months several specially chosen travelers will be testing out the Principality's answer to Nice's Velos Bleus. The Monaco bus company was asking for volunteers [1] for the scheme earlier this year, and it's now about to start the trials.
Biot company Clean Energy Planet [2] is installing 3 bike stations with 15 bikes. Because of Monaco's steep streets, the bikes are electric, with a special locking mechanism on the front wheel that also serves as a battery recharger. If the trial is successful, the bikes should become available for workers and residents to get around town.
