A new ambassadorial position may be created for the permanent representative of the Order of Malta in Monaco.
Monaco Hebdo reports that the Government plans to transform the role of Representant Permanent de l'Ordre de Malta into an ambassadorial post in 2011. The Christian organization is the oldest charitable organization in the world and is recognized by the Catholic Church. By organizing common actions with the order the Government hopes to increase the Principality's involvement in international cooperation. If the current Representant Permanent Peter K Murphy is made an ambassador, it's likely that the changes would be reciprocated for Jean-Claude Michel. Monaco's representative in the Order of Malta is currently based in Rome.
