Libraries, archives and document centres

Public Library

The public library in Monaco is currently located in 3 different buildings, however a new multi-media library is being planned to bring all the resources together under one roof. It's due to open in 2012.

Reading room and lending service

A traditional service called the Bibliotheque Louis Notari is in the Condamine area, close to the port. You can sit quietly in the reading room and do your business research, or read the Monaco business press.

DVD library

The DVD library lends both videos and DVD's, and is further up the mountain, above the Casino. It's only open during the week, over lunchtime on Tuesdays and Thursdays, and in the afternoons until 19.00 on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. Telephone +377 93 30 64 85.

CD library

The CD collection is known as the Sonotheque Jose Notari, and includes language tapes as well as CDs. It's next door to the DVD library, closed on Thursdays, but open on Saturday mornings. Telephone + 377 93 30 64 48.

Regional archive

The regional archive contains documents and artefacts relating to local heritage and history and is for reference only. You can search a card catalog of the collection at the Bibliotheque Louis Notari, from where you can also make an appointment to consult the archive, which is in the same building as the DVD library. Telephone +377 93 30 63 85.

Princess Caroline Library

The chidren's library and toy library is unlikely to be of much interest to Monaco IQ visitors, however we've included it here for completeness. Telephone for the main library is +377 98 98 80 01, for the toy library, +377 98 98 41 53.

Princess Grace Irish Library

A short walk from the Prince's Palace on the Rocher, the Princess Grace Irish Library contains the personal collection of Princess Grace's Irish books, and Irish-American sheet music. Telephone +377 93 50 12 25

St Paul's Church English Library

The English library contains modern English language books, both fiction and non-fiction. It's located beneath the anglican church and is open on Wednesday mornings and afternoons, and Saturday mornings. Telephone +377 92 16 76 91 during opening hours.
